A Snapshot of the Area

Located in the geographic center of New York State at the 'gateway' to the Adirondacks, New Hartford and its neighboring Greater Utica area is host to educational, employment, recreational and family opportunities. Home to approx. 120,000 residents, the Greater Utica area has always straddled an identity between agricultural might and industrial strength. With St. Stephen's as a hub, within minutes one can go from a major dairy and vegetable farm to a national insurance firm, from 3 top-rated colleges to a major psychiatric center, from a NYS prison to 3 major medical centers or  a national financial group among many other diverse major employers.

This area has been blessed with the foresight of our ancestors who left us a major art institute and art school, a respected zoo, a performing arts center that hosts both local and national artists, numerous local theaters, and a variety of college offerings ranging from famed orators, films, and concerts. Our more recent brothers and sisters have given us great sporting traditions including the Boilermaker Road Race - the most renowned 15K road race in the country and National Distance Runners Hall of Fame.

New Hartford living can be very pleasant with an excellent school system, two major shopping malls, a superb town park, a wonderful golf course, and various other entertainments. Three medical centers with specialties in cardiac surgery, cancer treatment and neonatal\pediatric care, and rehabilitation are close by. With a multi-cultural population, one can experience wonderful dining experiences with a wide selection of culinary choices. In addition, New Hartford also is host to one of the houses of the Sisters of St. Margaret. Retreats, private meditation space and Christian community are 5 minutes away.

In such a central location, vacation spots abound. Within a little over 1 hour's drive, one can be in the Adirondack Mountains, Cooperstown, Syracuse, Albany or even Canada. From rural to suburban to urban, New Hartford offers you a great life!
